Namun, ternyata challenge ini menghasilkan tanggapan serius dari seorang dokter.
Apa yang dokter katakan soal “Sprite Challenge”?
Tantangan ini bisa mengganggu pencernaan di perut. Ungkap seorang Dokter Spesialis Penyakit Dalam dr. Aru Ariadno (Sp.PD KGEH) dari RS Brawijaya Depok, Jawa Barat.
Diketahui bahwa sendawa adalah bagian dari proses tubuh, terutama mengurangi tekanan di perut yang disebabkan oleh gas. Jika di tahan dan tidak di keluarkan, bisa menyebabkan perut membesar dan menimbulkan rasa tidak nyaman.
Mengganggu proses pencernaan lambung sehingga menyebabkan iritasi dan kerusakan pada lapisan lambung.
Meskipun tidak ada literatur yang menghubungkan pencegahan cegukan dengan penyakit, dr. Aru memperingatkan bahwa tidak berarti perilaku tersebut bebas risiko. Orang tersebut dapat mengembangkan ileus, kolitis, dispepsia fungsional, dan penyakit lainnya.
dr. Aru membenarkan bahwa menahan cegukan dan kentut itu berbahaya. Jika gas dalam usus tidak di keluarkan, tentu akan timbul rasa tidak nyaman dan kemungkinan iritasi.
